As we continue to observe the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we are proud to share highlights from the camp we have been hosting for girls aged 12 to 24 years, representing diverse communities such as Glen View, Mbare, Domboshava, Mahusekwa, and Hatcliffe.
The camp began on Sunday, November 7th, with an engaging and informative session. The girls learnt about the history and significance of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, understanding why it is commemorated globally and its role in advocating for the elimination of gender-based violence. They also spoke about the different kinds of abuse that exist and how to identify each type.
A key topic was the growing concern of digital abuse, particularly relevant as most participants have access to mobile phones—either their own or shared within their families. This opened up important conversations about online safety, responsible digital behavior, and strategies to protect themselves from cyberbullying and exploitation.
